Upcoming Events

Announcements for the week of Sunday, November 9, 2008

Beginning Sunday, September 14, 2008, IBC will add a second hour for the worship, at 6 p.m.  Your are welcome to attend at either 4:00 or 6:00 pm, although, for the most part, we recommend that those already coming at 4 stay with this hour.  The 5:00 hour will be a joint hour of food and conversation.

1.  This Wedneday evening, a group of us will join with many other ASU Christians to give praise to God as a climax to the 24/5 Prayer Chain that has been ongoing since early October.  The praise and music will be exciting, joyful and very, very musical.  Would you like to come?  Everyone meet at Danforth Chapel at the center of ASU’s campus (across from the entrance to Hayden Library) at 7 pm, Wednesday evening.  This will be a good way to enter into the spirit of Thanksgiving.  (Because of this special prayer meeting, we will not meet at Karen’s this week.)

2.  English Corner is open to all, Mondays and Friday at 5:30.   We practice all English language skills:  speaking, listening, reading, writing.  Bob is the teacher.  Come and bring a friend.  Open enrollment.  No cost.  No homework.

3.  Also, every week, Pastor Bob joins “The Faithful City” to pray for everyone at ASU – also for personal needs and needs around the world – at 9 a.m. on Wednesday mornings.  This prayer time will continue even after the 24/5 prayer chain is finished.  You are welcome to join us.  At Danforth Chapel.

4.  Other meetings this week:  Korean Fellowship is on Friday, 3 pm, at the Danforth Chapel.  Seekers’ Group will not meet this Wednesday, due to core team.
Chinese Students’ Fellowship meets each Friday here at the bookstore, 6:45 pm, for Chinese meal, song and Bible teaching.  Bob will be the Bible teacher this week.  Friends of Internationals has a community service event planned, also a Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 22.  Intl. Students Club has special meals being planned for the holidays.  See isclub.org to sign up and get more details.  Life Among the Nations’ conversational English group is on Tuesday night, 7 pm, at the Memorial Union, Room 219.

5.  We are planning to have a special Thanksgiving meal at the 5:00 hour on Sunday, November 23.  It will be a meal where everyone brings a food item to share:  You are encouraged to bring some food that is typical of your country/area.  More details to come.
